BIOGRAPHY

Sarah, what has inspired you take part in the Polar Race?

To achieve the 'impossible' and prove that through dedication and hard work we are all capable of doing something extraordinary.

What do you think you will miss the most in the Arctic?

Clean pants.

Which word best describes your team-mate, Charlotte?

"Competitive."

What's your biggest apprehension about the Polar Race?

Failure to achieve what we have worked so hard for over the past twelve months.

What's your favourite food for putting on the weight necessary for surviving in the Arctic?

Cheese.

Finally, please can you give me your score out of ten, for the following:

Fitness? 9.5
Ability to not get lost? 8
Ability to cope with the cold? 6
Ability to keep a stiff upper lip in the face of adversity? 8, so long as the frost nip is not too painful.

Thank you Sarah. Good luck with the race.

CHARITIES

Cancer Research UK is the world's leading independent organisation dedicated to cancer research. It supports research into all aspects of cancer through the work of more than 3,000 scientists, doctors and nurses. Cancer Research UK is one of the few organisations of its kind with the ability to take advances in basic research all the way from the laboratory to the patient. It is a European leader in the development of novel anti-cancer therapies and its extensive programme of research in clinical units ensures that new treatments reach patients as quickly as possible. Key to its success are the flagship Clinical Cancer Research Centres. These bring together world-class scientists and doctors on major hospital sites working side-by-side and with cancer patients on innovative areas of research — such as using viruses to kill cancer cells and tailoring cancer treatments to a person's genetic make-up.
